The Waste Management Authority of Western Province (WMA-WP) built the “Smart Citizen” app as a free app. This
SERVICE is provided by WMA-WP at no cost and is intended for use as is.

Our Privacy Policy ("Privacy Policy") helps explain our data practices, including the information we process
to provide our Services.
We take our users’ privacy seriously and understand that you entrust us with your personal information,
reviews as well as search data. And we give the highest priority to securing your data.
This Privacy Policy describes the types of information we may collect from you, or that you may provide, in
connection with your access to or use of “Smart Citizen” mobile application . It also explains the steps we
take to protect your privacy, such as building our services so that delivered messages are not stored by us.
Please also read “Smart Citizen” Terms and conditions ("Terms"), which describe the terms and conditions
under which you use and we provide our Services.
The terms used in this Privacy Policy have the same meanings as in our Terms and Conditions, which is
accessible at “Smart Citizen” Terms and conditions unless otherwise defined in this Privacy Policy.
Any features, functionality, information or services (including content and material) made available by the
App our practices for collecting, using, maintaining, protecting and disclosing that information.
Without limiting the foregoing, this Privacy Policy applies to information we collect through direct App
use, e-mail, text and other electronic communications between you and the “Smart Citizen” Services.
Please read this Privacy Policy carefully to understand our policies and practices regarding your
information and how we will treat it. If you do not agree with our policies and practices, your choice is
not to use any of “Smart Citizen” Services. By accessing or using “Smart Citizen” Services, you agree to
this Privacy Policy. This Privacy Policy may change from time to time on requirement basis. These changes
are effective immediately after they are posted on WMA-WP official website.
Information Collection and Use
This Application obtains the information you provide when you download and register “Smart Citizen”
Application. However, registration to our application is optional. We collect several types of information
from and about users of “Smart Citizen” Services, including information;
- You agree that WMA-WP at its sole discretion may revise these General Terms and Conditions at any time
without assigning any reasons therefore and you agree to be bound by all such revisions made by WMA-WP
from
time to time on requirement basis. It is your responsibility to periodically review the latest version
of
the General Terms and Conditions uploaded on the WMA-WP official website (https://wma.wp.gov.lk)
(the
‘Website’) to stay informed of updates and revisions. You undertake to go through the General Terms and
Conditions on the Website on a regular basis. You will be subject to, and will be deemed to have been
made
aware of and to have accepted, the changes in any revised General Terms and Conditions by your continued
use
of the Services after the date such revised General Terms and Conditions are posted. You hereby waive
any
right to receive specific notice of such changes/revisions. If you do not accept the changes, you should
not
use the Services.
- That is about you but individually does not identify you, such as your personal preferences, and your
interactions with “Smart Citizen” Services.
- About your internet connection, the equipment you use to access our App/Site and other related “Smart
Citizen” Services and usage details. We collect this information.
- Directly from you when you provide it to us.
- Automatically as you interact with or otherwise use “Smart Citizen” Services (including usage details,
IP
addresses and information collected through cookies and other accepted tracking technologies), such as
when
you: Search for recyclable collectors, availability of events, and etc.
Information You Provide to Us
The information we collect on or through “Smart Citizen” Services may include: Information that you provide
by filling in forms on our App/Site. This includes account and profile information you provide when
registering for (or updating) a member account to use any “Smart Citizen” Services, downloading/subscribing
for an Application, posting material or requesting further services. Records and copies of your email, text
and electronic communications, if you contact us. Your responses to surveys that we might ask you to
complete for research purposes.
- Log Data
It is want to inform you that whenever you use “Smart Citizen” Service, the WMA-WP
collect data and information (via third-party products) about your phone called log data in a case of an
error. This Log Data may include information such as your device Internet Protocol (“IP”) address,
device name, operating system version, the configuration of the app when utilizing my Service, the time
and date of your use of the Service, and other statistics.
- Your Account Information
You must provide your mobile phone number and basic information
(including a profile name of your choice) to create a “Smart Citizen” account. If you don’t provide us
with this information, you will not be able to create an account to use our Services.
- Your Messages
We do not retain your messages in the ordinary course of providing our Services to you. Instead, your
messages are stored on your device and not typically stored on our servers. Once your messages are
delivered, they are deleted from our servers.
- Customer Support and Other Communications
When you contact us for customer support or
otherwise communicate with us, you may provide us with information related to your use of our Services,
including copies of your messages, any other information you deem helpful, and how to contact you
- Device and Connection Information
We collect device and connection-specific information when
you install, access, or use our Services. This includes information such as hardware model, operating
system information, battery level, signal strength, app version, browser information, mobile network,
connection information (including phone number, mobile operator or ISP), language and time zone, IP
address, device operations information, and identifiers.
- Location Information
We collect and use precise location information from your device with
your permission when you choose to use location-related features, when you decide to share your location
with the relevant local authority or view the locations shared with you in relation to other services
provided by “Smart Citizen” Services. There are certain settings relating to location-related
information which you can find in your device settings or the in-app settings, such as location sharing.
Even if you do not use our location-related features, we use IP addresses and other information like
phone number area codes to estimate your general location (e.g., city and country). We also use your
location information for diagnostics and troubleshooting purposes.
How We Use Information
We use the information we have (subject to the choices you make and applicable law) to operate, provide,
improve, understand, customize and support our Services.

- No Third-Party Banner Ads.
We still do not allow third-party banner ads on our Services. We
have no intention to introduce them, but if we ever do, we will update this Privacy Policy.
We do not store, transmit or communicate any political data, including but not limited to voting preferences,
party affiliation, or political views. We take the privacy of our users seriously and are committed to
maintaining a safe and secure platform.

The WMA (WP) may employ third-party companies and individuals due to the following reasons:

- To provide the Service on our behalf;
- To perform Service-related services; or
- To assist us in analyzing how our Service is used.
The WMA-WP wants to inform users of this Service that these third parties have access to your Personal
Information. The reason is to perform the tasks assigned to them on our behalf. However, they are obligated
not to disclose or use the information for any other purpose.
